We started an action to raise money for the Alzheimer Society through music. With our new song Mr. Alzheimer we shine a light to the terrible consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
The protest song can be listened to and downloaded via all known music platforms such as iTunes, Spotify and Google Play and is regularly played on local radio stations. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer Society.
365 euros raised already
We’ve already raised over 365 euros in donations through doing a live show and our special action website. And the song Mr. Alzheimer has been listened to more than 250 times via Spotify. Every single time someone listens to the track online, we receive half a cent or even less. That’s not much, but it is something and we will donate all proceeds directly to the charity. So if you only listen to the song online, even if you have a free account, you also help us out.
The musical couple from The Netherlands experience the consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia up close. David’s mother has been suffering from the terrible disease that affects her memory for more than 10 years. With this story as a source of inspiration for Boxin’ The Vox, we’ve made a protest song in which they take action against the disease that takes the most beautiful memories away from you and leaves ’empty’ eyes. In the song we address Mr. Alzheimer directly and ask him to leave our memories alone. Read the full story behind Mr. Alzheimer here.
The idea of taking the song into action against dementia arose on stage. We noticed that our audience, just like us, feels very committed to this song. So we’ve contacted the Alzheimer Society in the Netherlands to offer them the single. On this special website (Dutch only) you can, besides listening to the song, also donate extra to Alzheimer Nederland and follow the action of Boxin’ The Vox.
